Mark Nyberg  - New State Governor

The SSA has confirmed Mark Nyberg as Washington State governor, succeeding Bruce Bullock, who resigned for private reasons.  Bruce was heavily involved in the negotiations with the Arlington airport  management and the FAA which were successful in assuring continued glider operations as currently in use (see page 40 of the October 2010 issue of SOARING).  So, thank you Bruce!

Together with Mark’s appointment I was appointed as state record keeper as Mark wants to  concentrate on public relations and I had already been quite a bit involved in updating the state record books.  As there are still quite a few open spaces in the record books (i. e., no records claimed so far) I hope to see an increasing number of record applications coming in.  And, as this season has amply shown, you can definitely set records on the West side.
