April 10 BOD Equipment Report
The status of our equipment
since our last board meeting is as follows:
Gliders: (Two
Gliders and One Tow Plane in Annual.)
General: Leo is making new flight control locks for
all the gliders. The red round ones were
taken out of service and are hidden in hangar #5.
14J: Canopy
cover needs repair.
L-23s: (Need an assembly
manual)
264: OK and on the line ready to fly. Need to renew airspeed indicator markings
265: OK and on the line ready to fly. Need for an electric vario is unresolved. Power connector was replaced by Hans. Need to renew airspeed indicator markings.
L-33s
355: Currently
being annualed by Paul. Vario is vented to the
cockpit instead of the static system. The
vent control cable is broken or dislodged. I have asked Paul to fix these during
the annual.
379: OK and
on the line and ready to fly.
1-34 OK and
on the line ready to fly. I have had
some problems with the electric vario. . Fred Weir pulled it, and it needs to be
replaced. Barometric unit works fine. Assembly manual is finished and is in the
club house as well as on line. I will
place it on the trailer after Leo mounts a box on it.
ASTIR: At Paul’s for annual. May need new seat belts.
APIS: OK, in
the trailer, and ready to fly.
Trailers:
L-23 – OK.
L-13 – OK. Title missing. Tabs up on 31 Apr.
1-34 – OK. Leo is fabricating a box to hold tools and
paperwork.
APIS – OK.
ASTIR – OK.
355 – OK. Floor
warped but useable.
379 – OK
Fuel Trailer – Instructed
Steve to leave trailer at his house covered in a tarp.
Parachutes:
All chutes are repacked. Next servicing in 23 Sep.
Carts:
Plexiglass purchased but not installed on the rear frame of
both carts
Facilities: Leo is continuing to work in the hangar and
club house restoring and repairing. We
seem to have a question about the legality of the work. I have a message into Leo.
Other Equipment:
I am trying to resurrect an
old radio to use on the field.
Miscellaneous
We have received the registration
for 17Z as Evergreen Soaring. The FAA
website also shows that 707NL is deregistered under BESC.
Towplanes: Report from
17Z and 30Y are airworthy.
74D is in the shop for
annual inspection, and there is a crack on the right hand fuel tank. Paul will
do the repair. 74D should be ready to
fly for next week-end. I would like to
propose an oil filter installation on 74D, as this would eliminate the need to
change oil every 25 hours instead the regular change of 50 hours intervals.
Below is an estimate for
this oil filter installation:
Oil Filter Adapter (Part
#AEL22772-1) $420.00
Labor to install is 2 hours -
$160.00. $160.00
$580.00
Tax @ 8.6%
49.88
Total
$629.88
Besides the repairs to 74D
listed above, additional work is required to shim the engine mounts and repair
the nose cowl that was chafed by the oil cooler. The condition was caused by worn engine
mounts. The LH bungee fairing is badly
cracked and needs to be rebuilt. This
too will be done during annual. Expect a
big bill.
