Evergreen Soaring, Inc.

General Meeting

September 11, 1997

President Chris Chantrill convened the meeting at 7:30PM at the Aeroclub room at the Red Barn.  Ray Stoer reported on the Pawnee wing cluster fitting AD and what he had previously reported to the Board about choices costs etc.

John Daly hasn’t purchased the putt-putt towmobile yet because he hasn’t been authorized by the Board to do so.  Stay tuned.

Gary Thayer sez Glidepath will hit the presses one week early this month.  Articles are, as always, solicited.

We were reminded that the Blanik ailerons and flaps are pretty marginal, possibly rudder and elevators, too, needing recover.  This could be a club project, saving probably about $2000, less materials cost (that’s what the N77AS recover job cost).  We need to check the fabric, organize work parties (regular club meetings, weekends?), purchase materials etc.  We’ll have to work in a heated room--how about the clubhouse?  We’ll also need a licensed mechanic to supervise our work.  Can we find a willing soul?  Jerry Painter will make inquiries.  We’ll have to be determined to get the job done quickly since 029 is our primary revenue ship.  The Lark can fill in as primary trainer while it’s down.  It’s also worth considering doing ALL maintenance ourselves (properly supervised, of course), thereby saving great gouts of green.  Next to fuel for the Pawnee, aircraft maintenance is our single biggest expense.  Whaddya think?  The Board will consider.

Jerry Painter was prodded to get the books into the clubhouse and available for purchase by members (he has since done so, Ed.).  We’ll have a pretty nice book store, with more than forty titles available for purchase.  So get to reading.

The meeting adjourned at 9:30PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Jerry Painter, Secretary
