Evergreen Soaring, Inc.
Board of Directors
September 18, 1997 meeting
The meeting was called to order by President Chris Chantrill at his home at 7:30PM. Also present were Mike Delaney, John Daly, Craig Kramer, Jerry Painter, Doug Kyllo, Mike Bailey and Ray Stoer.
Mike Delaney gave a review of club finances, which are finally beginning to show in the black. Right now we have about $3100 in accounts receivable.
Cliff Hines, a student glider pilot, has submitted an application for membership. After due consideration he was accepted to membership in this esteemed body.
Ray Stoer reviewed the latest developments regarding the Pawnee wing AD. He has contacted the company in Oregon and will arrange to take the aircraft to them for AD compliance and a fresh annual in the first two weeks of December. The cost of the annual inspection will be $550 plus any required repairs. We will be contacted before any repairs are made. The wing AD kit costs $1450 and installation will be another $2000. Total: $4000 plus.
John Daly will contact Blanik America (Vitek Siroky) to see if aileron/flap covering envelopes and fabric clips are available. (Editor’s Note: as this is being typed, we have received word that Blanik does NOT supply these since fabric covering materials are readily available in the US. The clips require a special tool available only at the factory so are not available either.) Jerry Painter talked with Tom Chandler, A&P/IA, about whether he’d be interested in supervising club members recovering the L-13 flaps and ailerons. He says yes.
John Daly was authorized to purchase the putt-putt towmobile for $400.
Our 1-36, N3619G, will return from Ephrata this coming weekend sez Craig Kramer, ops major domo. What to do with the small shed at EPH? Sell it to PSSA? Seems the Evergreen Ephrata Estate is attracting envy from certain unnamed underprivileged types. Craig also reminds us that El Nino is coming--make those tie-downs secure at the end of every flying day.
The Wish List of improvements to club equipment was briefly reviewed. Needs to be prioritized.
Can we fix the sandtraps on the “ramps” to the glider grass strips @ KAWO? Jerry Painter will take it up again with airport management.
Next, the upcoming Ranger Creek safari was discussed. Participation will require a minimum of four dedicated hardies each day. Tow the ship to RC, assemble it, fly it, camp out with it to guard it from rowdies, fly again the next day, disassemble and trailer the ship home Sunday night. Lotsa work. The Board decided to let individual members approach them with any proposals. The Safari is set for the last weekend of September through the second weekend of October. ES participation will be by membership initiative only, nothing officially organized by the club.
Finally, we have received complaints about towplane noise at KAWO from an operator (machine shop) at the northend. Towpilots should endeavor to climb straight ahead until north of all airport buildings before beginning their turn to the east. Be careful out there, don’t want to unnecessarily disturb the neighbors.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Painter, Secretary
