Evergreen Soaring
Board of Directors Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President Chris Chantrill at 7:30PM in his home. Also present were John Daly, Ray Stoer, Gary Thayer, Mike Bailey, Craig Kramer, Doug Kyllo, Keith Turner and Jerry Painter.
The first topic of discussion was when to bring the Lark and 1-36 back to Arlington from Ephrata. It was decided to return the Lark over labor Day and the 1-36 at the end of the Ephrata season.
Mike Bailey was advised that the 1-36 brakes are reportedly acting up and the Blanik will soon need a 100-hour inspection and recovering of its flaps and ailerons. Has anyone seen the Russia log book? Parachutes need repacking. Always something.
We have received applications for four (count ‘em) new members: John Wallach, a student pilot, age 14. You’re in, John. Bob Ford, a commercial power pilot, likewise. Andrew Iseminger, a student pilot and (apparently) another Microsofter, ditto (if you’ll let us fly your Microsoft megabucks glass ship when you get one). David Brown, you’re in, too. Welcome aboard, gents.
Ray Stoer gave a detailed account of the various STC’d modifications available to satisfy the Pawnee wing/landing gear cluster fitting AD. They are: Kosolo, Pocatello, Idaho, $5000; “STC Solution” in Florida, $3200, more or less; Schweizer, Hillsboro, Oregon, about $3500. None of these prices include an annual inspection. 30Y needs to be either inspected again ($1500?) or repaired to remain airworthy at the time of its next annual inspection.
After duly considering the options, the Board decided to approach the Hillsboro, Oregon, shop for installation of the Schweizer STC’d fix and annual inspection this winter.
For interested would-be CFIG’s, Keith Turner will hold an orientation meeting at his house September 4 in preparation for an intensive course he will conduct this winter.
Now Hear This: the SSA has petitioned SGC for a proposal to hold the 2003 World Soaring Competition at Ephrata. Estimated cost: oh, about a mill.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:40PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Painter, Secretary
