Evergreen Soaring
Board Meeting
January 17, 1997
The meeting was called to order by President Chantrill at his home at 7:35PM.. Also present were Craig Kramer, Doug Kyllo, Mike Bailey, Mike Delaney, Gary Thayer, John Daly, Keith Turner and Jerry Painter.
Treasurer Mike Delaney reported on the new increased fee schedule, profit and loss to date and accounts receivable. The Pawnee exhaust repairs are completed and paid for, as are the Blanik hard landing and windshield repairs.
Bob Chase reported that a CFIG renewal clinic would be conducted by Tom Knauff February 22 and 23 at the Northwest Aviation Conference in Puyallup. The cost is $75. Not only can CFI’s renew their certificates, commercial pilots wishing to acquire their CFIG will get credit for passing the written exam. Private and student pilots are also welcome to attend. The classes will begin at 8:30AM in the Waverly Room at the Fairgrounds. Two sailplanes will be on display for the benefit of the many thousands of pilots and vendors expected to attend the conference. He reminded us that the Soaring Expo at the Museum of Flight will be held March 1 and 2.
President-elect John Daly and Jon Magnussen took delivery on the trailer for the Russia, crossing Stevens Pass to Wenatchee on the only day it didn’t snow for quite some time. Mike Bailey and Doug Kyllo will adapt the trailer to carry the Russia. President-elect Daly also reported that trailer insurance had been dropped because it is redundant, saving us a few much needed shekels. He also noted that our old friend 877, the Schweizer 1-26 we lost to wind last winter, now repaired by its new owner, is advertised for sale for $8750. He also said the February meeting program would be by Steve Northcraft (Region 8 SSA Director) and Keith Turner, Chief CFIG.
Keith said he’d been working on revisions to the training syllabus, both content and form, and that it would be reviewed with the club CFI’s at a meeting to be held at his home January 20 at 7:30PM. He wants to hold regular CFI meetings to standardize training. Since CFI’s are at the heart of club safety, it falls upon them to make sure members receive the training the need to ensure incident free flying. Keith is making ballast to allow lightweight pilots to fly the new Russia.
President Chantrill noted the need to get all ships prepared for the upcoming season by the first of March.
Marlin Little is now a regular member
Kay Miner has assembled a brain trust for the annual winter ground school to be held at the Museum of Flight and announced the schedule.
The next Board meeting will be held at Mike Delaney’s on February 20, 7:30PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:55PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Painter, Secretary
